Renowned juju musician, Otunba Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye,
a.k.a. King Sunny Ade(KSA), has lost one of his wives,
identified as Mama Ronke.
P.M.News learnt that the deceased mother of four died at
a private hospital, at Akitan Street, Ojuelegba, Lagos,
on Wednesday night, after a brief illness.
A source at the hospital told P.M.News that the woman
died a few hours after her husband (King Sunny Ade)
visited her in the hospital. She was hospitalised about
a week ago. It was gathered that the popular juju
artiste could not speak with his wife during his visit,
as she was sleeping when he came.
He was said to have left a message for her, only to be
told later that his wife had died. One of King Sunny
Ade’s aides, who confirmed the death, added that the
woman’s church members were planning to bury her
yesterday, at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state.
It was learnt that she worshipped with a sect known as
The Jah Family. At the church, located on Awoyokun
Street, Onipanu, Lagos, she was fondly called ‘Kafidel.’
When P.M.News visited her residence, in Ilaje, Bariga
yesterday, neighbours were seen in groups, discussing
the life and times of the deceased. One of the
sympathisers told P.M.News that she felt sorry because
the deceased’s mother is still alive. Efforts to speak
with King Sunny Ade on the death proved abortive, as he
was said to be in a sad mood, having lost two wives in a
year. One of his wives reportedly died of cancer,
sometime in the first quarter of this year.
